“Excellent in skill work”: SSG Heredia-Elias for one more year, foreign player formation period

SSG Rangers has re-signed foreign hitter Guillermo Heredia for a total of $1.5 million ($150,000 signing bonus, $1.15 million salary, $200,000 option) and foreign pitcher Roenis Elias for a total of $1 million ($100,000 signing bonus, $650,000 salary, $250,000 option).

This completes SSG’s foreign player roster for the 2024 season, along with Robert Dugger, 28, who was signed on Nov. 28.헤라카지노

Elias joined SSG on May 4 as an alternate foreign player and helped the team reach the postseason with an 8-6 record in 22 games and 131⅓ innings pitched, with a 3.70 ERA and 93 strikeouts. In particular, Elias became the team’s main starter in the second half of the season, consistently averaging more than six innings per game, showing excellent stamina and game management skills.

Heredia excelled as the team’s center fielder in the 2023 season, appearing in 122 games and ranking high in various hitting statistics, including 153 hits (8th in the league), a .323 batting average (5th in the league), 12 home runs, 76 RBIs, and an OPS of .846 (10th in the league). He also proved to be a top-notch defender in the outfield, winning 10 assists (1st in the league) and the KBO Defensive Award for Outfielders.

SSG decided to re-sign the two foreign players not only because of their excellent skills, but also because they have successfully adapted to the team and life in Korea based on their great work ethic.

After signing the contract, Heredia said, “It feels great to be with SSG next year. I’m happy to see my beloved Korean fans again, and I’m looking forward to preparing with the players from spring training to help the team win the championship next season.” Elias added, “I still remember the fans’ passionate support for me and my family last year. I am happy to sign with SSG again, and I will do my best to help the team win the championship with my teammates.”

Meanwhile, the signed foreign players will join the team’s spring camp in Florida, USA, scheduled for February next year.
