What a waste… 4 hours and 10 minutes of waiting, overtime, and a blown save?

It was futile. After a four-hour, 10-minute delay due to inclement weather and a hard-fought extra-inning game, the Los Angeles Dodgers were unable to come away with a victory.

The Dodgers lost 6-7 to the Washington Nationals of the 2023 Major League Baseball at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday. The loss ended a two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 86-55 on the season.

Prior to the game, Nationals Park was hit with a lot of rain and the game did not start on time. Both teams had to wait nearly four hours and 10 minutes before they were able to play.

The Dodgers started the game with David Peralta (left field), Freddie Freeman (first base), Will Smith (catcher), Max Muncy (third base), JD Martinez (designated hitter), Jason Heyward (right field), Kike Hernandez (shortstop), James Outman (center field), Colton Wong (second base), and starting pitcher Bobby Miller.

The Nats countered with CJ Abrams (shortstop)-Lane Thomas (designated hitter)-Dominic Smith (first base)-Kevin Lewis (catcher)-Travis Blankenhorn (right field)-Jake Alou (left field)-Ildemaro Vargas (third base)-Luis Garcia (second base)-Jacob Young (center field) and starter Jake Ervin.

With both teams wanting to play baseball so badly, they battled from the start. In the top of the first inning, the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead on a Muncy sacrifice fly that put runners on second and third after Peralta singled up the middle and Freeman doubled. In the bottom of the inning, Abrams gave up an RBI triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Thomas to tie the game at 1-1.

The final run came in the bottom of the fifth. A bases-loaded single to Garcia cut the lead to 1-2, and a sacrifice fly to Smith with one out made it 1-3.

The Dodgers bats started to come alive late in the game. In the top of the seventh, Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-3. They gave up a two-run homer to Thomas in the bottom of the seventh to make it 2-5, but Muncy’s two-run shot in the top of the eighth made it 4-5. Continuing the momentum, Wong hit an RBI single with runners on first and second in the top of the ninth to tie the game at 5-5.

With the game tied in regulation, the teams headed into extra innings. The teams traded runs in the first inning. In the top of the 10th, Hernandez singled with runners on second and third to give the Dodgers a 6-5 lead, but in the bottom of the 10th, Lewis singled with the bases loaded to tie the game at 6-6.

The game came down to the bottom of the 11th inning, and in a somewhat bizarre turn of events, the Dodgers suffered a heartbreaking loss. After failing to score in the top of the 11th, the Dodgers were just one run away from losing the game. With runners on first and third in the bottom of the 11th, Carter Kivum came to the plate and missed a first-pitch slider from reliever Gus Ballander, and while Smith made the throw on a ball that bounced sideways, the runner at third was quicker and swept home plate for the heartbreaking 6-7 loss.

Miller started for the Dodgers, allowing five runs on six hits (one home run) in seven innings with two walks and eight strikeouts. Beyond the numbers, Miller was solid, but his performance was overshadowed by a two-run homer off Thomas with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.카지노사이트

At the plate, Martinez had three hits and Muncy had three RBIs, including a home run, but had to hang his head in shame in the loss.
