Wolverhampton lost 1-2 away to Sheffield Wednesday in the 11th round of the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) season at Bramall Lane in Sheffield, England, on Sept. 5 (KST).

The blow to the league’s bottom side left Wolverhampton in 13th place with 12 points (W3 D3 L5).

Even though the team lost, Hwang’s performance was still impressive.

After recording an offensive point in his last five official matches, Hwang played the full game and also recorded an assist.

Hwang scored the game-winning goal in the 44th minute of the second half, when the team was down 0-1 and looking down in the dumps.

A cross from the right flank was cleverly placed by Hwang to the feet of Jean-Luc Bellegarde.

Bellegarde’s shot bounced off a defender and into the back of the net, but the goal was ruled an own goal and Hwang was credited with an assist. It was his second assist in the league this season (6 goals).

Despite Hwang’s brilliance, Wolverhampton conceded a theatrical goal from the penalty spot 10 minutes into second-half stoppage time and lost 1-2.

Promoted side Sheffield Wednesday picked up a valuable first win at home against Wolverhampton after failing to win any of their opening 10 games this season, drawing one and losing nine.
