Washington became the hitting coach for Hanwha in 2021, where he helped develop young players before moving to the Cubs the following year, where he spent two years as an assistant hitting coach.

A longtime Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres minor league coach, Washington was promoted to first base coach in 2017 and served as hitting coach in 2018.

A recognized hitting expert in the big leagues, Washington made headlines when he was offered a job in Korea by former Hanwha manager Carlos Subero.

There is no contact between the Angels’ new manager, Ron Washington, and the hitting coach. Washington even interviewed for the Angels’ managerial job in 2019.
