The Los Angeles Dodgers are in a hurry.
They are reportedly looking to bolster their starting pitching staff through free agency and trades.
Even if they sign Shohei Ohtani, he won’t take the mound in 2024 due to surgery.토토사이트
The Dodgers struggled mightily in 2023, using 17 different pitchers as starters. This was due to frequent injuries to starters.
The outlook for 2024 doesn’t look promising either. Clayton Kershaw, assuming he re-signs, will likely not be able to pitch until the second half of next year due to surgery. Even Walker Buehler, coming off an injury, will need time to find his form.
In response, the Dodgers are making aggressive moves this offseason.
For starters, the Dodgers are reportedly looking to acquire two stars in one deal.
According to Mark Feinstein of MLB.com, the Dodgers could attempt to acquire Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burns and shortstop Willy Adames in a trade.
Both players are free agents after the 2024 season.
Burns was the 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner and has a 2.93 ERA in 93 starts since the start of 2021.
Along with starting pitching, the Dodgers also need a shortstop. Gavin Lux, whose season was lost to injury early in the season, could return in 2024, but the Dodgers could bolster the shortstop position with the addition of Adames.
Adames has posted a 111 OPS+ since being traded to Milwaukee from the Tampa Bay Rays in May 2021. His 26 above-average outs over the past two seasons are the second-most among qualified shortstops.
The Dodgers are also reportedly in talks to acquire Chicago White Sox right-hander Dylan Sease in a trade.
Seas finished second in American League Cy Young Award voting in 2022. In 2023, he made 33 starts with a 4.58 ERA and 214 strikeouts in 177 innings.
The Dodgers are also reportedly in the mix for Yoshinobu Yamamoto and 2023 National League Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell.
