The 51st Bonghwangdae High School Baseball Tournament, the biggest celebration of high school baseball, kicked off simultaneously today at stadiums in Mokdong, Shinwol, and Gu, Seoul, and will run for 19 days through March 5.
Founded in 1971 by The Korea Times, the Bonghwangdaegi is a national tournament for all high school teams and has served as a gateway for star players by creating unscripted drama. From Kim Jae-bak Sun Dong-yeol Park Chan-ho Lee Seung-yup to Ryu Hyun-jin and Lee Jung-hoo Kang Baek-ho, the stars of Korean baseball were born under the Bonghwang-dae banner.
This year, a record number of 95 high school teams from across the country, including 18 sports club teams, are competing in the tournament, promising fierce competition. Starting from the opening day on the 18th, the games at Mokdong-Shinwol Stadium can be watched live on the Bonghwangdae website, the Korea Baseball Softball Association website and YouTube, and from the quarterfinals onwards on SPOTV.
Tickets for Mokdong Stadium can be purchased through Interpark Advance and can also be purchased at the door. Spectators who visit Mokdong Baseball Stadium on weekends and holidays, as well as during the semifinals and finals, will be eligible to win prizes such as wristwatches, cosmetics, tumblers, and Starbucks gift certificates. The Hankook Ilbo Culture Olle on Facebook is also hosting a “Predict the Winner, Predict the Score” event.안전놀이터
